On 24 April 2019, the Minister for Transport, Elisabeth Borne announced the results of the EVRA call for projects in Autonomous Road Vehicle Experimentation.
As a partner of the winner, the SAM consortium, Cerema will provide its expertise and equipment to support development of autonomous vehicles and deployment in the regions, according to local mobility needs and expectations.

The results of the EVRA call for projects were announced on 24 April 2019 by Elisabeth Borne. Two consortia were selected, one of which was SAM (a French acronym for Safety and Acceptability of autonomous driving and Mobility) coordinated by the PFA representing the French automobile industry, with Cerema as partner.

Cerema will provide its expertise in different fields; some technical, others concerning the services these vehicles provide. Apart from drawing up the overall assessment methodology, it will be involved in the deployment and assessment of cooperative systems, data collection relating to the physical infrastructure, assessment of acceptability, user behaviour, environmental impacts, mobility and traffic.

In collaboration with IGN it will also participate in discussions concerning high-definition mapping for circulation of autonomous vehicles.

16 experiments have also been selected as part of this response to the EVRA call for projects, in order to test different technologies in various contexts, in urban areas and rural spaces. Here again Cerema will play its role, supporting municipalities who wish to carry out experiments on tomorrow’s vehicles, such as Rouen, Vichy, Clermont-Ferrand, and also Paris.
